Intermittent Misfire Cyl 1-4
Like the title says, I have a misfire on the bank with cyl 1-4. I also had a code for a misfire on, I think, Cyl. 3 by itself. This developed over a week of the car sitting at Disney World and then driving it home. :dunno:
I have a 2001 BMW X5 4.4. 254000 miles! At first I was thinking it was the ignition coils but it was fishy that it was just the one bank showing a misfire code. I'm going to mark and move some coils around to see if it gives me different codes. Or just try and do a power balance test to try and pinpoint a faulty coil. It could also be the CPS since it's the entire bank getting the code and it happened all at once. But I don't have a code for CPS showing. Has anyone had this experience before? Is there a way to test the CPS? I am also going to do the standard looking for leaks but I don't believe it to be or I would be having issues with the entire engine and not just one side. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks for any and all help guys! |
May want to check the ground strap connection, between #2 & #3 coils. Or cam position sensor on right cyl bank.
