RB, I don't see the capacitors listed at lightwerkz' site. What does wiring them involve? I'm going to try the school solution [the board resin fix/solder] this weekend, but might proceed directly to the LEDs if the board is ugly. Mine has already had one side replaced already [a couple years back] and the LEDs do look shiny and bright!

I installed al led door lights and they came with load equalizers so you dint get a warning light.

I bought from this seller 2.5 years ago, they have built in resistors so it won't trip a bulb out warning on your dash:

00 06 BMW x5 E53 Philips LED Perform Red Clear Tail Lights Lamps Left Right | eBay

On your 2002, you don't need anything else.

@Riggo, if you do end up with the LED tails, email Caesar Rowinski at Lightwerkz, he doesnt list the E53 capacitor fix on his website but he will know what you need when you email him. You need them since we have adaptive brake lights on 03-06 models.

[email protected], they will get plugged into the new LED tails and you would be good to go. Nice thing about the LED tails? They have the rear fog light spots open and ready to be wired up should you choose to use them as rear fogs, trailer lights, etc.

I write this in threads or posts where I would like to give a suggestion, recommendation, or look up info to post like diagrams or images...or even insert a link to another thread that covers the same question...but I get stopped doing so because there isn't details as to the model/model year/build date that the OP has.

I'd prefer to not waste time posting information that won't apply to the OP...so that is why you'll see me write that statement. If the OP has enough information then you DON"T see me write those comments.

And I'm sure I've made the comment to you in the past as well...especially since you are part of the vocal minority that does reply in many threads. When people search the forum or the internet and find your posts...the things that you've done that may be based on your vehicle's model or model year...or where it falls within the production range from 1999-2006...is unclear because you've chosen to not create a signature that has your X5 vitals.

Again, I only type that statement as encouragement to create a signature because it helps us help them better....as well as helps the forum be a place that has clear instructions, advice, recommendations, and suggestions etc. My intent is not meant to be evil, nosy or status seeking.

No need for any of these resistor tricks. The module can be coded to suit

Ricky Bobby 08-13-2014 08:00 PM

Resistors and capacitors are different. Resistors are not needed, capacitors are though because of active brakes from 03-06

Coding the module relates to cold monitoring and other functions in regards to lighting
