i ride in the back of my X a lot in the rear I got the satellite tv. in the rear and up front. the x 5 rear seats need more padding i can feel the metal on my butt. I added some more cushioning extra foam, when I did my seat heater project..I am working with a shop trying to rig a way for them to recline more. more angle would provide a way better experience.

I am looking to sell the car lol. but the x5 seats to me feel like plain Honda civic seats real square and "boxie" like if I turn to fast I'll fall out. both me. and my wife like the x5 but the seat Comfort level doesn't match. and another problem is that there isn't really another SUV out that me and my wife likes except maybe a e70 but a decent one is out of my price range right now

There are 3 different seat designs in the e53 X5 with multiple types of material ...leather/leatherette/leather & cloth and cloth in some markets.. The 16-way comfort seat, 10-way sport seat, & 10-way basic seat that can be optioned with 4-way lumbar which turns it into a 14-way seat.

Which one of these seats do you have that are uncomfortable for you?

"Athena Grace" always liked the ride in the back seat and had plenty of room to snack on chicken nuggets.

Current occupants "Sadie Diamond Lil" and "Shadow Demi Lee" both like having their individual recliner positions and the higher seating position that allows good forward visibility.

My son never complained about riding back there either!:D

I have a 800 mile round trip for this weekend.
First long trip since I bought it.
I will let everyone know how I feel when I return.

I realllly wished I could have the recline seats button but its only avail on the 4.6 and 4.8iS correct? and I didn't have any in my city that were a good price and in good shape but I agree, the non-reclining seats are way to straight up to be comfy for a long drive.

I did a 1300-mile round trip to Colorado and back a month or so ago. Got a chiropractic adjustment BEFORE I left and I still feel great.

Even good seats won't be comfortable if you're a little bit out of alignment when you sit down. If I feel my lower back starting to hurt, I usually notice myself slouching a little bit. I sit up straight and the pain goes away.

(this is in the front seat)

No, I have it in my 4.4. It was an option in 3.0 as well.
