Clockwork,
I see you have 2005 MY......as do I......not sure why your premium package would be modified or different..........are your sure?

By that I mean....the switch to adjust the seat backs are not neccesarily in an obvious location........think over shoulder when in rear seat.

My 03 3.0 has them. My switches are up by the dome light and by the rear gate.

I'm 6'2" and 200lbs.. did a road trip to the rockies with 5 passengers and ended up in the back seat. It is really uncomfortable if you have 2 people my size and any person larger than a child. The trip was 6 hours... not in a rush to do it again.

No way! My 03 A4's where terrible. No room at all in the back and the front I never felt planted. The S4 fronts where a huge upgrade, but the backs seemed cosmetic in the fact that there was no leg room at all and you had to slouch or rest your head on the ceiling if you rested back into the seat. And I'm 6' whereas many of my friends are much taller.

As for my X, I haven't had the opportunity to sit in the back of mine for an extended amount of time. But they don't seem that bad with a bit of incline to them.

I agree the legroom was terrible in the a4 but the front seats were more comfortable than my x5 I can't remember how the back seat was but I'm sure it was better than the x5

I'm comparing the actual seat comfort Not the legroom

Legroom has a lot to do with seat comfort. The more one is restricted the more likely the seat will be uncomfortable because of that restriction.

My pea brain can't compute how not remembering how the back seat was makes you sure it was better than the X5.

Even if all of us were familiar with both backseats, what is comfortable to one person is unique to them. A majority feeling one way or the other might help but the conclusion is still what appeals to that single individual.

Personally, being relegated to any backseat I see as punishment for something evil I have done. I have never said "Wow, what a great backseat. Can I ride back there everyday?" Come to think of it, I might have in the drive-in theater days. We call shotgun because every other seat is uncomfortable in the broad sense of being comfortable riding in a vehicle.

I knew from the moment I sat in the x5 it was not as comfortable as my a4. The x5 rear seats are hard and have no type of cushion and my a4 backseat was so comfortable I use to make my wife drive me while I sat in the back like a chauffeur and cuz we had a newborn. My In laws have a base model mdx and a fx35 and the x5 seats don't even compare. Even my old 92 integra leather seats were more comfortable

Generally the chauffeur is in the front driving. Must be a Texas thing.

I could ask the same question-- how did you know the X5 was not as comfortable when you didn't remember what the A4 backseat was like but I won't.

I understand you don't like the X5 backseat. That doesn't you are right and those that disagree are wrong. Lots of folks like a firm rounded seat in tight black leather.

This thread cracks me up. My parents still own a B6 and sometimes we hop in it to go to dinner. It is basically a clown car.
