Well, after waiting all week for a thermostat, It came in late yesterday.
So this afternoon I popped it in and finished up. Its alive. Runs nice. This X was bought with a bad motor so I was assuming that there might be some other issues with it. I wasnt wrong :( First thing I noticed was when I tried to pull up the cluster tests, the vin in the cluster didnt match the car and there was a tamper dot. DSC, ABS, Brake, Airbag, SLS suspension warning, and a slew of bulb out warnings. I started out by using PA Soft to code the vin into the cluster. That got rid of the tamper dot. Scanned it with DIS 5.7 and found 2 errorsr for DSC. A power disruption and a RR speed sensor open circuit. Turns out the car side of the sensor plug was broken. So I pulled one from a parts car and soldered it on. That got rid of the Traction light and the ABS light. Im still dealing with the air suspension issue. Bags were flat when it was dropped off. If I use INPA to scan the SLS I get no errors. INPA allows you to control the pump manually. When I air the axle up, the ride height comes up. Seems to stay there too. We'll see how long though. I had already replaced some front suspension parts that were bad, but when I had the rear up to fix the speed sensor, I found the upper rear arm was shot. Almost falling off :yikes: So I guess its gonna need a rear rebuild too. Looks good sitting at the right height. http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/n...ps13t9je7c.jpg |
good work

Good job!

So. Bit of an update. I finished installing all new lemfroider suspension. Front and rear. Had to air out the rear shocks to ake replacing all the rear stuff easier. Now it's all nice and tight.
After doing new tierods up front and centering the rack as best as possible, the traction ight went out. It's still in dire need of an alignment. Any idea if a super bad alignment could cause an sls inactive light? After all this work I still can't get rid of the warning. After airing out the shocks I had hoped that they would fill up on their own, but they didn't. Gonna have t run inpa again to fill them up. |
Nice work!

I always like to hear people bringing cars back to life! So many just get left behind when the owners get something else or don't know how to fix the problems. Awesome job!

Nothing like the feel of new suspension.
SLS inoperative light would be illuminated if airbags have not inflated. |

I inflated them by using inpa. So the car is sitting at proper height. Next step is to align it. Then if it's still there, I'll scan the sensor readings with the other tests in inpa |
kudos to you (GSXRliterbikz) Sir.
I am just in the process of pulling my engine out, can you please let me know where you used the lift points to hook up onto the engine and lift it out? Did you also use a leveling device? Do you have pics of you lifting the engine out? very interested! and great work! Thanks |
