Phone connection
Hey guys,
Recently joined the X5 family with a lovely 4.8is, so take it a bit easy as I'm new here. One of the first things I noticed when I sat in the car is that the steering wheel and radio unit have buttons for use with a phone. So, obviously, I started looking into how I could connect my phone. I found the settings and tried to connect my phone, but for some reason my phone didn't see the car (it's an iPhone 5). After a quick search, I found that my car has the following S644A Preparation f mobile phone w Bluetooth Is this the correct thing for what I'm trying to do? Do I need anything else for it? Or is there a possibility that something might be broken? |

Since it's a 4.8is you can start here: http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...is-thread.html

Early 04's had a Telematics/Bluetooth module that only speaks with the BMW assist.
I don't recall the exact date that 'real' bluetooth support started, but I believe it was Sept/Oct of 2004. If your build date is earlier than that, you can't pair your phone with the existing hardware. |

Can someone get this guy a key to the 4.8is-exclusive restroom here?

Always remember that model/model year/build date is real important to answer questions sometimes...because there are many changes that occurred during the production run from 1999-2006. Cponsider creating a permanent signature that includes that info. :) Welcome :welcome: http://bimmerboard.com/members/q/ori...ist%20Info.jpg TIP: KL R = ignition position 1 & KL 15 = ignition position 2 http://bimmerboard.com/members/q/ori...0e83%20e85.jpg BMWs that DON'T support BT http://bimmerboard.com/members/q/ori...0Bluetooth.jpg |

I have - Produktionsdatum 09.03.2006 - so I believe it should work. My car is currently in another country, so I'll try it as soon as I get to it. One thing though - I don't have a 'bluetooth passkey'. At least I don't believe it was in any of the papers I have with the car. Any way around this? |
