Also, could be park sensor or relay preventing 12 volt to starter.

Your indy can check the signal wire to the starter solenoid. If it doesn't have 12 volt when you turn the key to the start position than that is the reason why the starter is not turning.

There are many reasons why there is no 12 volt to the starter solenoid. On my Audi the signal wire had a break in it so I just located the break in the wire and spliced a new wire from the break to the solenoid.

Check relay to the starter as well.

Should bring it in get it scanned. If you have a bad EWS the scan will let you know. Could be the antenna pickup for the key chip is bad.

If you have another key try the other key.

:iagree: Get it scanned for error codes. Too many potential causes.

Hi, there, I doubt the park sensor as I can rotate the car on all gear level, and the dash lights for the position of the gears are in concurrence with the gear selected. Thanks

I used to have Audi that had sensor/solenoid that released the gear from park when brake was applied. This sensor/solenoid sent gear park position to ECU separate from gear selector. This failed on me and prevented my car from starting. Yes, it's a VW so some things are redundant. By looking at RealOEM, I didn't see similar sensor/solenoid unless it is built into gear selector. Yeah, E53 probably doesn't use/have it.

Yeah, order a new key from an authorized BMW dealer. It will take a couple of days, weeks, or months depending on your dealer. Keys are not cut/ or program at the dealer they either get it from the fatherland or Tennessee which ever factory is the closest.

Hi guys thanks for the reply, would ordering a new key require me to program it in the car? Coz my dilemma is that that car is not starting at the moment, i might not be able to successfully code it? Or the dealer will have it coded for me? Thanks

Key will come coded to your car but you would need to program the lock function. Follow instruction below.

BMW dealers should be able to test your key. Bring the key in and ask them to test it.
