misfires and system too lean codes

On my new to me '07 X5 3.0 (62k miles) I've had the P0174 & P0171 codes codes for a little while. Today on our way home from LA after going over the grapevine, the car started idling rough. I pulled codes when I got home and now have P0302, 303, and 306 plus B2AAA.

I was going to start with looking for intake leaks for the initial codes, but now I'm wondering where to start.

One other thing that I may get razzed for. We stopped in Castaic and got gas at the truck stop. I put in 87. Could that be the start of the problem...crappy gas?

You will get razzed for driving around a car with check engine lights and codes. THAT is your problem. If your car was running properly minor issues with octane should not be a problem.

What are you additive and multiplicative fuel trims??

I deserve that ...I am going to take it to my shop tomorrow. I don't have the time to figure this one out right now.

Their diagnosis and recommended plan of action will speak volumes about their competence. Be interested to see if it is a laser diagnosis OR a laundry list of parts.....

When the shop dug into it they found a massive valve gasket blowout that had been repaired with permatex. Once they cleaned it all up they found that the Valve cover was cracked as well, and one of the bolts had snapped. They should button it up tomorrow, and make sure none of the coils are causing the misfires.

Wait 'till you get a load of the cost of the plastic valve cover.

I know :wow: The VCG + one other gasket job was going to be $492 and then I got the call about the cover. :(
