Rear Brake Parts

I have a 2009 x5 4.8i with 90k miles, My idrive is calling for a rear brake job to be done. I think I'm going to stick with oem parts. Does anyone know where to get the parts for cheaper than the dealer over here charges? Thanks, Sam

I decided to go with Akebono pads and Zimmerman rotors (after extensive reading about cons and pros).

Got the pads on Amazon, rotors at partsgeek.com. Was surprised standard delivery took 1 day from partsgeek.com.

Does Zimmerman make rotors that fit X5? Yes.
Is Zimmerman *the* OEM (original equipment manufacturer) for just made X5s? Probably not, but I don't know which company is the OEM.

It is probably not in Germany any way :banghead:
Although I always go with OEM brands for the pads (Textar, ATE,etc) and I am never disappointed. Not on a dealer pricing of course.

Meyle rotors are also good and they supply Porsche and BMW. They cost less than Zimmermanns and offer similar quality and stopping power. As far as parts, buy the kit from ECS and be done with it.

I dunno, ECS seems to always be high on prices. IMO their business model is "buy our kits, you dont need to think"...but you pay for that.

Admittedly I havent exhaustively shopped them.

I believe their rear brake kit is $210.00 with pretty good components which includes the following parts:
Rear Meyle rotors
Rear Akebono pads
URO pad wear sensors
ECS stainless steel rotor set screws
2 AGS Syl-Glide Silicone Brake lubricant packets

Not too shabby :)

or try FCP Euro...

I bought Akebono's for my X5. Haven't installed them yet, but I have them on my Mercedes E55 and they are amazing! Reduced brake dust by 99% and still the same stopping power, no noise either. I hate the brake dust that OEM pads produce.
