It is funny how the desire to 'find a cheap place' or 'see if I can get some free advice' results in people going to some very sketchy places. Combine that with people not knowing much about cars, and almost anyone in greasy pants looks like an automotive genius.

so what's the DIY procedure? I searched the forum but could find none, is it the same as on the older Bimmers like our e39s (I know you are also on m5board, I'm Brent_M5) and use the Motiv pressure bleeder at @ 15psi? I'm assuming so but this is my first BMW build after 2000 and it's clearly more tech and computer/module heavy so I'm still lost as to what that increased complexity does to previously simple procedures (like swapping a freakin battery being "hard" now)

In my very humble experience 2 years brake fluid interval is bit overkill.

I do my own (someone inside doing the old school "brake - open bleeder - release - pump 3 times" routine), and quite frankly if I go every 2 years I have a hard time distinguish the new from the old fluid when it comes out. So I reset it and do it every 4...

But obviously to each his/her own...

Out of interest re fluid changes:-

Years ago when main dealers and manufacturers started suggesting 2 year fluid replacement I purchased a proper fluid tester, one that actually measures moisture content and then boils a sample to test it. I have yet to find ANY vehicle where the fluid is anywhere near out of spec even after 4 years of not being changed! YMMV
