No. A friend of mine (who is a BMW tech) did it for me. It was a couple months ago and there's been no new codes so I'm confident that was it. (So is he) It is under the intake.

Agreed - this is the primary cause of this fault if the vacuum system is otherwise good.

Where is this part located? How are the lines routed? I'm fighting the exact same thing now. I replaced the pressure converter that the egr vacuum line goes to. The diagrams for this system seem incorrect.

Keep in mind that the vacuum diagram may be a 'schematic', and not a perfect depiction of the actual hose routings. I don't know for sure, just a comment....

I was wondering the same thing. Where is the pressure converter?

Fixed! Someone had switched the hoses. The pressure converter is on the drivers side under the lip of the intake manifold. Tricky to see with everything attached.

Wow thanks to y'all for this thread. Was exactly my issue from those codes. Had to go through taking off the intake manifold to see the part & replace it; what a terrible place to put the part.
Car is a champ again.
Saved $500 labor.
I ended up not bolting the part to the engine, and left it more outward so as to have easier access next time in case it breaks again; no need to take off the intake manifold again.
