CIC Dead I think
 

No radio, screen blank, no PDC. Could this be a fuse issue? It worked on my first trip of the day yesterday but not since.

Does not seem like a simple fuse . I was in the same boat expect I had radio and everything else just my ccc would not turn on . For me a fuse fixed it ! But since you have no radio maybe a dead cic idrive

FWIW, be precise with the 'things' you(se) are discussing...a "CIC" isn't a module. Nor is a 'CIC iDrive'.

Find the PDF floating around that describes the nav/entertainment system. It will have the right terms. MOST importantly, it will show the block diagrams as to what feeds/controls what- based on what does and doesn't work, narrow it down from there.


OP, what are you asking? Are you a DIYer with a computer, cable, ISTA, NCSExpert, etc etc? Or jsut 'maybe a fuse I can check before heading to the dealer'? It is helpful to let people know what you as asking for AND what level of help you require


One question: do you get ANY audio whatsoever? Warnings, tones, chimes, etc.

Did you try the reset procedure?

No audio at all, no chimes, tones or warnings. PDC light on the button is on but i could be 1 inch from a wall and there's no warning sounds. As I'm getting out I see the KEY image show up in the cluster display (reminding me to take it with me) but again no tone to go with it.

Its a base model unit. I don't even think its called a CIC nor CCC. It's from before their times. It's got a 6.5" screen, no nav, no dvd and no internal HD storage. Build date on the X5 is late 2011.

I tried one where you hold the power button in for 25 seconds and one where you hold power and eject for 25 seconds, neither did anything. Those are the only 2 I know about.

Sweet! Now i'm getting a warning in the instrument cluster that my oil is low. I have no idea how low it is tho since i don't have a dip stick and the radio is dead. Good times.

I believe you main audio amp is/was not working. All tones, sounds along with audio (radio, CD, et) go through the amp. When the radio is off, the tones are still routed through the amp and are heard.

The oil level sensor is knwo to be an issue. No dipstick sucks. If you add a quart, does the e-level respond? I beleive the BMW procedure is to drain the oil and confirm how much comes out, then refill- if still low, replace sender.

The control display shuts off when the amp dies? I could understand not hearing the radio if the amp died but why would the display shut off?

It's not a CCC, it's a M-ASK. Otherwise known as iDrive Business. It's what you got when you ordered an X5 without Nav in 2012. And now its a smoking ruin. (Well it smells like smoke anyway according to the tech). New unit will be $4900. Looking into options to upgrade to CIC if possible.
