using oil extractor on E70
I bought an oil extractor a couple of years ago for using on my E53 and it was great. Now I picked up an E70 and discovered it has no dipstick. I checked with BavAuto and they had no suggestions. Anyone have any suggestions on how an oil extractor can still be used on the newer models that have no dipstick?

35D has a dipstick

Just do it the regular way. It's not a hard one to drain, and you will get more old oil out that way.

With the extractor you can suck out the oil cooler which is in the filter housing. I don't like to mess with aluminum oil pans, seen them strip drain bolts easy.

My 08 4.8 has a dip stick. It's small and hard to find, but it's there. But I still drain and refill since the filter is underneath now too.

Thank you all for your timely responses. My apologies, I should have clarified that yes, I do have the N52 3.0i 6 cylinder power plant.

E70 3.0 si (N52 engine) is not equipped with oil dipstick. Best way is the old way: Move the car on ramps for more clearance. Loosen the drain plug. Warm up the engine, have a container ready underneath, remove the plug, change the filter cartridge (specs 25 Nm). Leave the oil filler cap open, leave it drain overnight for better results. Next day, plug the drain (specs 25 Nm), add new oil (6 quarts). Done [emoji736]. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
^ You forgot turn off the engine.
