FIXED - The dealer that Sold me the car said they "just did the oil change" (looks like they just reset the oil change interval and changed nothing). The "O" ring on the filter is just like a freeze plug. It is designed to fail before something major. There was plenty of oil pressure, and when it couldn't pass through the old filters, it made it's way past the "O" ring. On the other side of the filter was the pressure sensor reading 0 and triggering the light. Installed a new, quality filter, and 9 qts of Castrol and she purrs like a kitten again. Thank you very much to the guys that tried to help me. To the other A$$holes, I hope you rot in hell after your engines seize. jagoffs like you chase folks like me away. Same thing happened from the same 2 guys when I first signed up, (search my posts). Too bad too, cause I have a ton to offer this fine community and I'm sure you two have chased off many more. I will give something back to this community b4 I leave for good, as there are many other forums. https://www.google.com/search?q=bmw+...hrome&ie=UTF-8 I will post a DIY thread for the best looking, and best performing brakes for your X5 ..... coming soon, with many pics. ps - I tried to upload a couple pics, but the size limitations got me |
Glad things worked out!
I took a look back through your posts, and I'm guessing I'm one of the two people you refer to since you didn't respond too kindly to my other posts. As I asked in that thread, I still don't know what I said that was so condescending. I just agreed with someone who suggested maintenance before mods lol. This time I even said I hope I'm wrong but I don't agree with your decision to run the engine with a low oil pressure warning, really not worth you wishing my engine seizes or calling me a jagoff and thinking I'm trying to chase you away. Cheers. |

to be continued on another thread .......... if people show interest
Deleted my pics and replaced them with a portrait of the 3 resident Richards  |
This thread should be titled: "Professional mechanic lets engine idle with no oil pressure, fixes oil filter o-ring, demands respect"
Sorry, but the only a$shole in this thread is you. You went from zero to 11 because someone rightly called you out for letting an engine idle with no oil pressure. |

What an idiot you are, with zero reading skills. The very first post stated 120psi oil pressure, then mentioned again in other posts. You are one of the idiots that ruin for the others and give a noob catastrophic advice. What part of 120psi did you not understand. ;) I'll post something nice in the next thread, then you can post what a moron you are - :wow: :thumbup: |
Just out of curiosity why do you think the o-ring, that when it fails spews oil everywhere, was designed to be the weak point in the system? Namely to prevent something more major from failing?

I did not even read your post. I have simply unsubscribed to everything Xoutpost.
Oil pressure is STILL at 120, same as always. I will now report my own post and ask the Mods to delete my username. I'm gone, congrats. |
