That's probably what I will be going with since it had the highest ice, snow and mud rating. I technically "offroad" every single day with my driveway and the others I have looked at tread wise aren't going to cut it seems.

I wish cooper cs5's were available in run flats. I have those on my e53 and the wife's pacifica. They work great.

There just isn't much to choose from with the factory 19" wheels and runflats.

A little late to this thread. What do you like about a run flat?
To me? They are heavy and expensive, and what are they saving you?
With a run flat, you can travel "up to" 5o miles. 50 miles to where? To the corner gas station? Do they have any 315/35/20's Dunlop run flats on the rack? NO.
Burned through 2 sets of run flats in about 8 months per set.
Check out tirerack. If you look at the weight of each tire? Front runflat is 7 pounds heavier, per tire than an all season. Rear? 8 pounds.
I put Continental DSW on my X5. Going into my 3rd summer and lots of tread left.
Car is totally different with 30 pounds of lighter tires.

I expect them to get me home so I can park it and order a new tire and then drive it to the shop and get the new tire put on.

Since

a: cell phone service here is pathetic so I cant call for a tow truck 90% of the places Im at with it.

and

b: I cant tow it with a dolly and most tow trucks here only lift one end of the car which wont work without damaging an awd x5.

that means run flats are a must or I have to switch over somehow to having a spare again and losing the area under the cargo lid.

Also the odds of finding a tire in stock around here run flat or otherwise that will fit the rims on the x5 are slim to none that makes run flats an even better choice than normal tires since I would be stranded where ever it got towed to if I didn't have them.
