Steering wheel soft touch paint coming off

I tired to do a search on here but got an error message. Anyway do any of you have a link to someone who sells these parts (blue circles) in carbon or maybe even wood trim for this steering wheel type? I find all sorts of cool stuff for other wheel types but not mine.:dunno: Maybe my best bet is to pull them off and repaint or put on carbon or wood grain vinyl?

if you wrap it with vinyl, you will save $$$ otherwise, ebay seem to have tons of it starting around $60 or so.

This has been an issue on several of the auction cars I’ve flipped, and I’ve never found a good solution. There’s aftermarket junk but the factory parts are the only thin. That looks right to me and they are $$. I’ve not tried wrapping though, maybe that’s the ticket.

Looking up that steering wheel in the part database...it appears the button pads on this steering wheel is NOT sold separately...but come with the wheel. If you have a heated steering wheel...then it is a different part nbr from the non-heated steering wheel:

Thanks, that kinda blows but explains them being hard to find. LOL I guess I will remove them and wrap or sand and paint.

I have the same issue but with a heated version. I've put off doing the steering wheel, but have painted part of the console trim and arm rest trim and you can't tell any difference from the factory, except it's not peeling. :D

The reason I put off the steering wheel is because A) I'd like to get an upgraded version and/or B) if that takes too long to find one that isn't $$$$$ then I don't want to remove anything but also don't want to paint inside the cabin. :D

Also, there's a company that makes laminate covers for that section specific to certain bmw models. Just google 'steering wheel graphics BMW'. Seems they make laminate for both the buttons and the plastic trim, though I'm not sure how good the product is.

It looks like those little panels pop right off after you remove one screw on each side. I will let you know if thats the case.

I just pealed it all off, and left it plain black plastic. Looks fine.

That is by far the most cost effective option.
