DPF/SCR Delete diy?
 

I've had my 2012 X5 for a few months now, and I'm finally getting around to look into delete options. My main question is, for those that have DIY'ed, how long did it take you without access to a lift? For those that paid to have the labor done, how much is a reasonable cost/hours? I'm debating whether to tackle it myself without a lift or pay someone. I've seen reports that it takes 4 hours for an experienced shop to do it, and about 12 hours to DIY?

I paid $850 labor for an EGR, cat, and DPF delete.

^That sounds about right - considering the component removal, I believe the subframe needs to be dropped about 6 inches to get the DPF out - Plus the block offs on the EGR, or deleting with a race pipe, etc - Its a full days work and if you want it done right I'd pay someone -



My local shop also will install the swirl flap deletes at the same time and check for any carbon buildup, which is not prevalent on the X5's as much as the sedan because of our low pressure EGR - the tech at my shop said most of the X5's can just be wiped out, however they don't know for sure unless its open -



Also a good time for them to replace the Thermostat, do a coolant drain and fill, and check for any frayed vaccuum lines -

I did it in my back yard. I put the X5 up on ramps in the back and stands in the front. Started disassembly one weekend, sent the DDE out the following week, and had it all together and running by the end of the second weekend.

I was working alone and had not done it before. I'd say it was about 12-16hrs of actually working on things.

I also soaked the intake in purple power that week to remove some of the oil sludge.
