Here is how you clear the service messages. There are numerous videos but this is the one I followed I believe. If you can not clear the pad message using this then one of your sensors was tripped and will have to be replaced. They are very cheap... I always do both.

The system expects new sensors on new pads. It estimates pad life by knowing how many miles have occurred between reset and when the 1st stage sensor trips. Putting a new sensor on old pads will confuse the system, because the 1st stage could trip immediately, depending on how badly worn the pads are. |
Finally I was able to reset the front with the odometer button, so now Idrive reports 50,000 on them. Rears will not reset so Im assuming something is wrong with the sensor on the rear. Pads still look fine to me(they aren't even half way down the beveled edges I'd say 5/16 or more pad material ). I know you can't just eyeball these but, I've seen a lot of brake pads with 1/8' or less. Brakes have about 17,000 miles since installed.
BTW, I just ordered new sensors and may have new pads ordered shortly. After taking off right rear tire again I cut the sensor wire twisted together and tried to clear brake warning for 30 minutes. I still can't get the warning to shut off. I tried with carly as well. Carly says 49% life left to pads and car says 27000 miles. Why am I having so much trouble with this I've watched 10 youtube videos and been googling. But the brakes will not reset. :dunno::banghead: |

Ok thanks, the twisting wires wouldn't work either. I just put on the new sensors on front and rear. I didn't install on caliper's I just tied them off to test for now.(I was afraid they would break or just wear out immediately if installed on old pads). I did order new pads but didn't want to tackle that job just yet. I had enough for this week changing all the fluids and company for the holidays. It's confusing because Carly says 49% life left and I-drive reports brakes ok. When I go to try to reset the dash reading says 24000 miles left on rear and 50,00 on fronts. But every-time I start the car I get brakes need replaced message and red brake light on dash that won't go off.
Oh almost forgot, Happy new year to everyone. |
You may need to trace the wires (using the schematic on newtis) to see if there is a damaged wire, bad connector or someone else hacked it...

ARD, Thanks sounds like a lot of fun. Chasing electrical problems is always a joy.:D
