I’ve been so tempted to get a 35d. How much ? For now we’re hanging on to the ‘07 4.8i with 160k having already survived needing to DIY the AGA coolant transfer pipe. Next up will be the oil cooler / alternator bracket gasket [ waiting for it to get worse , or the wife to leave town for the down time to work out]. Hoping the valve stems seals behave.

My wife and I both drive 2010 35d's. She has had hers for about 6 months and I just sold my E60 525xi and bought mine. She has 141k on hers when we bought it and I bought mine with 206k. I had thought about getting it sprayed but seeing as how I used to work for a Tier 1 supplier to the X5 plant I know that BMW designs all of there cars to be completely rust free for at least 10 years. Our old X5 was a 2009 and spent it's entire life in Ohio/Michigan and it didn't have a spec of rust on it, not even on the undercarriage.

I am doing a full delete very soon (EGR, DPF, CC) as well as swirl flap delete, Whitbread fluid dampner and silicone hoses In/Out of the intercooler while he's in there. I would like to try and remove the actual DPF tanks too but I know there are some electronics to deal with when doing that but the less in the engine bay the better I always say.

I think the corrosion warranty is 12 years, unlimited mileage, which explains your observations. That is also one thing I noticed on my E46: No rust until it was 15 years old...

I definitely like Whitbread's downpipe better than others I've seen (except for the Unobtanium one that's like $1500...). Are you having them do everything from start to finish? Or are you planning on DIY'ing the parts install & sending the ECU for a pre-made tune elsewhere? Do they have a Dyno to do a legit tune? Or do they flash a pre-made from someone else? Been researching their "Hydrid" fluid dampener vs the brand name Fluiddampr unit; I like the idea of a "hybrid" design on the surface, but I also like the solid metal design of the brand name unit for long term reliability / durability.

Would be nice if they've got in-house capabilities for ECU coding, as they might also be able to delete out all the emissions sensors & components you often have to leave in the car & plugged in to prevent CEL / a bunch of hidden fault codes. Would also be pretty damn cool if they could redo the glow plug control to not activate once the engine is running, as according to BMW literature, this system does a bunch of activations during normal driving depending on engine / coolant temp for emissions compliance & DPF regen, as well as when the engine is off & detects the presence of a key in preparation for being started. Doubt this is possible, but it would be nice in order to bullet proof this system ;)

Let us know how the delete goes, as I'll be doing the same using their downpipe & possibly their fluid dampener once the weather warms up.

My previous 2009 had all Whitbread/Buzzkin stuff and it was great. I had Matt do all the work on that car. I just drove it up to his shop; dropped it off for a couple weeks and then picked it up ready to rock. That only had DPF/EGR delete so less than I plan to do on this one. I've decided to hold off until this summer since I already sold my previous DD and don't want to get the 911 out in the winter as a back up. I'll just do what I did last time and DD the 911 for a couple weeks this summer while the X5 is getting worked on.

I've thought about doing the work myself and I guess I'll see what the summer bring's. I am quite familiar with these cars so doing it all myself doesn't worry me, not having a lift does though :rofl: . If I can get a straight week off I may just do it.

Very good looking X you got there. My 08 has 133,5** miles on it. I look forward to many more miles on it.
