The DVD player is the size of a single DIN unit. You would only be able to keep a 5 hour energy chilled.


Don't be afraid, cars are essentially a bunch of nuts and bolts and with forums, Youtube, and more traditional guides like service manuals there isn't much mystery to it. With some basic tools, common sense, and patience you can get a lot accomplished.

I thought the rear climate might be removed as well. Might hold 10 5 hour energy’s. Or a 6 pack.

Adding a wireless charger. What's slick about this setup is the charger is mounted to the ash tray which can easily pop out if needed.

WTF is this sorry excuse of a transfer case bushing? I was surprised to find out the X5M bushing is nearly identical. With all the TQ of the M57 motor and this offset mount only on one side this seems like it would be a good item to reinforce with a solid rubber mount.

Inspected the transmission wiring connector to confirm pin locations, I will be adding an X5M wheel with paddles and need to run wiring from the wheel all the way to this connector.

Used a WiFi endoscope to peak down into the valves. All things considered they look great, the only CBU I need to address is on the plastic portion of the valve cover. I will wait to clean that once I have another excuse to pull the cover since it should be and easy task and won't require walnut blasting.

Nice work. I still need to do a trans service on the wife's diesel. Question though... does the X5M wheel have a heated version? Her wheel is sport/heated and would be a must to retain.

Wife and I bought an E61 as well. It's nothing special but got it for a song from an owner who didn't want to spend more money on it. Are the E61 interiors wagon specific or does much of it crossover with the sedans?

Yes, there is a heated X5M wheel and it's in Nappa leather too which is nice.

Not trying to jack your thread, I think all this stuff is great! That being said, I pulled the diesel manifold off MANY times on my previous 2009. A few things to watch out for are items located in the very back, there is a bolt that you wouldn't think to look for and hook-ups for the swirl flaps and a couple plugs as well, make sure you get those. Other than that, all of the bolts up top are 10mm and captive, make sure you don't lose any of the nuts from the center section; I usually got them loose and then used a magnet to pull them out.
