Have had no issues or glitches with my setup. It does what i need it to do with no issues. I do no have/use carplay, im an android guy.

I got my unit from 4x4shop (yes they TOO use a Chinese based unit). Not the cheapest but at least I had peace of mind being able to talk to someone if I did run into issues.

100% would buy another one again.

I'm also surprised by "absentmathis"s comment, I've only been seeing good reviews on these except for price. Our current 2010 setups are honestly outdated by now. This would really come in handy for me, Apps like Waze, Google Maps etc, not to mention Media storage, Bluetooth etc. I want one. Not forgetting the looks and HD Screen.

Everyone has their own experience with these units. Mine has been good. I added a wifi hotspot to the car to always have a connection without the need to tether from my phone. Aside from that I still use the native BMW side most of the time, unless I need Waze or want to stream from my music library.

I've had the AHU from 4x4shop Canada since April 2019 and have had zero issues. I have it setup so when my phone connects to the x5d bluetooth the hot spot on my phone turns on right away.

I have an Avin one sitting in a box for a year+ that I need to install in our E70. Time availability has been an issue... oh and the transmission going out too. That pushed it back a bit. ;)

That's genius! Was shopping for a mobile hotspot but our phones are 5G and have plenty of data to hotspot with, so this is a much better solution.

You doing it with an "If-Then" logic app? I have been manually triggering it on my E53 when I wanted to use Gmaps or something requiring it.

4x4shop Canada is not the same as AVIN as far as i can tell. 4x4 shop come with iNav stamped on the box

Using routines app from Samsung Store. The downside is the wifi chip in the AHU are 2.4 GHz:stickpoke

it's good enough for using Maps or Waze
