OBD2/CAN Scanner Recommendation
Looking for a= recommendations on a good scanner for use with my 2001 E53 and E70.
Can't seem to find any good threads. Currently I have the standard blue bluetooth scanner and some standard android software. I also have older OBD2 autoxray with the the generic OBD software. |
I have several Android apps and a Foxwell. For the money the Foxwell is good bang for the buck. I used it to locate a faulty ABS sensor earlier this year and it removed any doubt as to which wheel was giving me problems in the E53. I had previously been using a Peake OBD & SRS for the E53.
BTW: I'm next door to Brighton MO and I have a buddy who is originally from Brighton UK! LOL |
I'll second the Foxwell. Been indispensable for diagnosing/troubleshooting our BMW fleet.

Which Foxwell model is preferred?

I have the FW510. I don't know how much different the FW520 is from that. Either should do the job.

Is a Foxwell NT530 a good choice? Looks like an updated NT520 with support for newer vehicles.

If you're goign to invest ina fowell, why not just set up ISTA? Even if you don't want to set it up yourself, you can purchase one click installs for under $40 on the internet. Free if you set it up yourself. I just took an old laptop, and then spent a few hours seting it up. Works great and now I have BMW dealer tools! ISTA includes every repair manual for every car, so you're covered there too.
