ARD - Most of last year was in Portugal, but was also spending time in the Netherlands winding up some personal business. However, now back in the US tho and will be a busy year (tho the health crisis may change a lot what I can do...)

I am originally from the dutch Northeast and still very fond of that part of the world. So I was curious where Stefan is from :)

I am originally from Groningen city, but we moved south a little, to Vries.
And I bought an A6 Allroad yesterday; the annual € 2,630.- in road tax and tire + fuel prices are what made me decide not to go for an E70.

Excellent choice! I had an A6 Allroad when I was in Frankfurt, lived on a hillside and we got a few wild snowstorms at the time (2004/5). I had a set of very good Continental snow tires and that car was like a mountain goat. Very agile and comfy long distance cruiser.

Sold my parents' former house in Tynaarlo last year, spent quite a bit of time there in the run-up to the sale.

Where in Tynaarlo was that? My parents live in Tynaarlo, my sister and my aunt and uncle as well.
And I love the AR, very well specced and extremely smooth with the adaptive air suspension. It came with a winter set, has Kleber snow tires on them... I believe they’re a Michelin daughter company, we’ll see how they perform; we didn’t have any snow last winter, just a lot of wind and rain.

What a small little world, eh?

:)

stefan2m 04-10-2020 01:25 PM

Funny, isn’t it?

TriX5 04-10-2020 08:14 PM

They lived there in retirement on "de Wedberg" since '86. I was born near Ten Boer (very much in the middle of the fields, the forebears were from even further up north) but I have been crisscrossing the globe since '82.

Small world indeed :) But it seems to always happen that way. In the early 80s a friend of mine was working in Brunei, he bumped in to a guy who I had met a year earlier while in Mexico. So yeah....

Good luck with the Audi!

Kiddin’! My parents live on De Wedberg, for the last two decades or so, nr 2.
Sounds like you’re in drilling/off-shore?

TriX5 04-12-2020 10:38 AM

Correct but my oilfield days ended in '93. Finance for infra projects and extractive industries since. Giving away my age here.... :-)

Your parents are on the corner (very lively at new years,,,,). I had the E70 there for quite a few days last year and early this year running US plates. I was trailering a lot of stuff out of my father's garage, he had a ton of tools and materials. The E70 just landed in NJ and heve to go pick it up.
