Thank you TriX5 and Sunny J.
Sunny, since I am new to the X5 could you please direct me to the banjo bolt and related sensor tubing you mentioned? By the way I would also appreciate any advice on converting my car to Android 8.1 as you have done. I just got this car a week ago and really am liking it so far. My other ride is a full tune/delete everything Jetta TDI with Rawtek turbo back exhaust and Malone 2.0 tune. I did everything myself, but the BMW is new territory for me. A full delete and tune is in the future for the X5 but for now I'm combing through the car and upgrading, and replacing worn components and such. TriX5, i am ordering new silicone temp rated tubing when i can find it. Do you have a suggested merchant I could go to? Thanks again to all who commented so far. I really appreciate it! |
Hi Waykooljr,
The banjo bolt is on the passenger side of the engine and connects to the sensor with a rubber hose. The sensor is on the bracket behind the turbos and pretty much the only thing easily visible once the engine cover is off. It is the area in the engine bay where a whole gaggle of vac lines converge. I used the cloth covered vacuum line from AARodriguez on TuneMy Euro.com. [His videos are very useful as are those of project 5seven.] The exception was the line under the turbo going to the waste gate which I bought from GetBMWparts.com, supposedly this one is a different material from the others. You may have a BMW dealer selling online closer than Silver Spring, MD, which is close to my house. To diagnose your M57 engine you probably should also look in to getting INPA or ISTA software. I feel that without these software packages the maintenance on the E70 is near impossible. |
My 4D03 actually turned out to be a faulty sensor

Blue_dragon I've replaced 4 clogged tubes on 4 different x5d in the past year. Sensor was good on every vehicle. It's easy enough to test. Remove the tube from the sensor and blow through it. If no air comes out you know you have a bad tube

Thanks Blue dragon! I am currently reading your thread on that topic. Sunny J I will check out your write up on the Android conversion.
