Aftermarket valve covers

I just replaced the eccentric shaft and actuator in my 2011 X5 with the N55. While I was doing the job I ordered a new valve cover because of the condensation at the back of the cover. I thought it was interesting that it wasn’t throughout, and not really on the oil cap, but all concentrated towards the back of the cover and in the opening that’s part of the PCV. Never had any codes for PCV related things.

Anyways I bought a URO valve cover from rock auto (it was the most popular valve cover so I thought it would be reliable) and it pulls a strong vaccum. The oil cap is suctioned on well. After turning off the engine the vacuum is still maintained. I’m having a hard time understanding what’s going on. It’s throwing code 28A0, throttle valve opening angle absolute pressure intake pipe comparison too high.

Also, does anyone have any luck with any of the aftermarket valve covers?https://photos.app.goo.gl/cRpMxZBkq1XyTr4t5

For the N52 the metal Chinese cover is pretty good, not sure about the N55 though. If you order on Amazon you can support the US economy as well! :) Maybe list the code description and give some history for what you are dealing with.

Thanks. I edited the original post with code description. I have a CEL on with this code and it idles funny. After googling tho code more it’s basically a vacuum leak. Now I have to figure out where.

If it's like the N52, the CCV diaphragm has a vent port (to atmosphere) that you could check, if there is vacuum the problem is there.

I tested the diaphragm on the new valve cover and it was operating correctly. Installed the old valve cover, to rule it out. Same problems. Same cel.

Gave in and bought a smoke machine. Found a huge leak in the pipe from the turbo to intercooler. Got a used one coming in from eBay, hopefully that will take care of the issue.
