interestingly enough, I was in the dealer's looking at an exact 2006 copy of my 2004...the dealer actually suggested that since I own outright my 2004 and there is no support for the 2006 models, rather than do a lease, wait 12 months--I will still have a car under warranty to trade or sell, will have saved $9-10K in lease payments, and after 9 months' production, can consider a 2007 E70 after actually having seen the real thing.

What did you mean when you said there is no support for the 2006 X5.

No lease incentives--apparently (and this could be complete BS) they don't have an inventory problem as far as E53s are concerned. Dealer told me lease deals were actually better last year.

U R talkin' to me?

If I understand your question, no. This thread stems from what a BMW N.A. area rep in Florida passed along, thus the reference to Miami; Miami being in Florida I made the connection almost immediately.

I would have to guess that the mules in other parts of the country are very much BMW products...it is unlikely they are Skodas. :)

No. The What it means is that the photos floating around either show test mules with styling that is not meant for production or photoshops that bear little respemblance to the production models.

Again: the shape will be same as we see it on tapped prototypes. That's final design. But due tape the details are not clearly seen.

IMO the BMW NA rep. was talking about CGIs & spy pics of heavily plastic cladded prototypes which indeed did not show the design - just a silhuette.

It's now official. Your dealer is a MORON. I'm also curious what you mean by no support for 2006 X5's. Can't quite wrap my brain around that one.

The local dealer must be doing something right...they just built about 4 acres of parking decks to hold all their inventory and they have two satellite service centers.

OK, so they can't sell me the correct $2.00 part in spite of the guiding hands at x5world...They are, at the very least, very successful morons.

See prior response regarding "support". And check out Post #68 on http://www.xoutpost.com/x5-e70-forum/...y-shots-7.html It appears that another person is finding that BMW is not making a big push to blow these E53s out.

I was told exactly the same thing by a sales manager here in L.A. about a month and half ago who also cited a factory rep as his source. I posted my "revelation" back then - very close to what you've posted here.

I'm now wondering if this is some precanned BMW spiel that we're getting spoonfed. Very clever, indeed.

You are probably right....the E70 will likely get panned at first, then six months later we'll all be lining up to get one and yanking the third row seats to install some woofer from hell...:)
