Hey Guys,

IMO the gate is one piece. I did a little zooming in and marked what appears to be the contour of the gate over the background. Also, if you see the marks on the rear end shot at the top of this thread, all the fingerprints are on the bottom of the gate, where one would open a one piece gate.

You could be right...but I sure hope not. The piston size supports your theory.

accella, you are right. The tail gate is 2 piece. Confirmed. :thumbup:

My friend allready saw the new X5 in his office and he confirmed, that it is a 2-piece ;)

Yup, that shot was taken in AZ, probably the Phoenix area where I live. I'm going to have to start keeping a closer eye out for one ;).

Based on the previous zoomed-in photo, and the piston size, it does appear that the top piece has grown longer--yes?/no? Looks like all the lights will be incorporated into the top piece.

E70 tail gate has the same configuration as the E53 tail gate.
