Man for 80K, we are in the Range Rover territory then. Range Rover Sport Supercharged is less than that.

I thought I would be picking one of these babies up and trading in my 04 Range but I guess I may just have to stay within the Land Rover family for best pricing. RR Sport Supercharges seems to be now calling my name.

Maybe I will change my mind when the X5 hits the streets. i have always LOVED the look of the Imola Red 4.8is with tan interior so we will see what type of emotions this new X5 bring up.

Yea but range rovers are garbage. They were just voted most unreliable car in the world for 2006. And i hate how the front end on the RR sport is always up in the air and the rear end sags especially under ecceleration. The first time i saw it i though something was wrong with its suspension. But all the other ones i saw look and ride like that too. So either they are all messed up or thats how it was designed. I dont know which one is the worse excuse for that. If you ever see one on the highway pull up along side it. It looks like its doing a wheelie. that must be very stable.

Pricing a Smidge Off

a small niggle, but you cannot have "active seats" with "nappa leather". it must be "peforated nevada leather". only a grand difference, but there could be other mis-matches, i saw that one without having to refer to the pricing sheet.

i feel it would be a rare individual that would spec a completely optioned X-5 E70. the palette is so inclusive the great majority of buyers will be able to purchase exactly what they want and stay in the mid to upper 60's. i specced one based on the pricing pdf available on this board and was at 67-68k. i eschewed: third row, rear ent., sport pkg., active steering, active seats for nappa, and a couple of low cost items. it seems to me the e70 is an exceptional value, while still offering something that most value: choices.

Consider the comparison of a fairly well optioned 4.8i vs. a 2006 4.4i:

________________________4.8i_________4.4i

Base price____________$54,500 _____$53,600
Destination___________$___695______$___695
Heated rear seats_____$___350______$___350
Cold weather package__$___900______$___750
Heated stearing wheel ___Inc.______$___150
Premium package ______$_2,550______$_2,500
Premium sound package_$_1,800______$_1,200
CD Changer_______________Inc.______$___600 (?)
Rear climate package__$___900______$___400
Sports package________$_3,600______$_1,600
19" Wheels_______________Inc.______$___950

Total_________________$65,295______$62,795

So, we're basically talking about $2,500 extra for the bigger engine and other performance refinements introduced in the new model. Not sure what folks were expecting, but this doesn't seem too far out of line to me. Am I missing something? Were people expecting the new options to be free?

It might be even closer than this. I have a site that will compute a more precise difference adjusted for feature differences.

But first I need to get the new X5 into my database. Where are these prices coming from? If I can get a complete list, I'll enter them.

The handling doesn't compare. On the other hand, the RRS should be considerably more capable off-road. Likely to take it there?

Somewhere in a thread within the E70 discussion someone uploaded in pdf format a price list. I can't find it now.

I found it. It's on the sixth page. I'll get the prices into my database, then post a new thread with supporting links giving credit where credit is due.
