Anyway the same question went to my dealer, all he said was that it will be with them on April 17th. He explained that BMW may choose to allow a number to leave the forecourt prior to official launch (as has been done previously on some new models, with my dealer anyway) or worse case is it sits there for 9 days, I know there have been a few spotted by other X5 drivers on transporters around Newbury and elsewhere so some are already here, I assume for promotional purposes however BMW UK dealer release states only 3.0d SE will be available for dealer use some of the X's spotted have been 4.8's so who knows? As I saw for myself on the order screen at my dealers, I have an order number, an AG number, My details, my car and spec and it also shows April 17th delivery to dealer, March the 5th build week and a shipping date at end of March. Oh and something about about it being a closed order ie its no longer amendable apparently. A shame cause I am still not convinced I made the right colour choice, I have gone with Space Grey and now thinking maybe I should of gone with the silver or the Platinum. Not sure about the comfort seats issue though and whether or not this will impact on whether or what may arrive on the 17th? I assume you have seen your dealers screen info on your order, what did yours say? |

Point taken on the space on the FFRR but with those RR's the big issue will be the residuals apart from the other common RR issues. |
Maybe the guys getting theirs early is because they have bought launch cars and not specced them.
What is the exact launch date over here in the UK anybody know.?? I here what you are saying about the LR. The thing is though the new X5 with a decent spec is just getting to ££££ when others are bring on to the market cars with much more toys standard for less money. Not just the X5 all their ranges are the same right down to the Mini. oh and cpd1 have you looked at the Q7 |

My delivery date is 17th April but it was spec'd up by myself in December, to be honest I got a bit carried away ordered quite a few toys. As I remember the RRS TDV8 was 53K and the RR was 60K for the Vogue when I looked at them. In the case of the RRS I wasnt really impressed with the spec in relation to the price. In the case of the X5 diesel price effectively you could go with 13K 's worth of toys to the RRS price and that would be a lot better spec than the RRS. With the Vogue that was a bit different it was well spec'd but again in comparison you would have 20K of toys to put on the X and no residual nightmares. The Q7 was/is a nice vehicle nicer to sit than look at, but thats totally subjective, I looked at these and again found the toys and prices comparable to that of the X. Again the same with MB. So on that its purely subjective its what you like and what you can afford. Scottie's right though the Q7 is definitely worth considering. And if you really want to push the boat out the Q7 has a V10 (As I recall) diesel out in April/May apparently it will get a 5.5 sec 0-60 time. I think these will start at about 55-60K |

Sorry, ment 1st May. The dealer has said the official date is 28th April, no cars before then.
I spec`d mine up. Basically I was in the right place at the right time. My car was a cancelled order from 2004. The guy had a Q7 instead. I went in put the deposit on and spec`d it up. That was late December `06. Space Grey / black sports seats / alloy trim 3.0d SE + DMS tuning.....285hp ish? Adaptive Drive Dynamic pack Media pack 20" wheels Side steps Heated seats f+r plus heated sport steering wheel xenons Plus a load of other stuff that come with certain packages. Trying to arrange an Aero Kit from the US at the moment, just to be different! Should look good..... |

Whats the DMS tuning and who is doing it? I went for the 4.8i, hate diesels in any form ( long story! ) If you want a good BMW dealer who is shipping friendly, good price and would paint it as well for half the price of the UK dealer then I would suggest Brecht. The contact there has been very good to me in the past few years I have bought a fair bit of kit from them, even after duty etc They are still a lot cheaper than UK and in some cases were faster getting it to me than the UK could of been with German held parts and most importantly understands the issues regarding import duty and VAT and is able to accomadate a very flexible approach. PM me if you want the details. I am not sure when the UK accessories options will be available, BMW UK told me next month. I am keen to get the iPod/USB connection retro-fitted. If anybody out there knows I would really appreciate the heads up as I have thought about ordering it from BMW NA (from Brecht) and getting it fitted by my dealer before I drive mine out but I am not sure if its thats straight forward, I should think it would be but I would appreciate any more knowledgeable advice. Fastbuck being that you and Dean are the only other UK orders I know of, have you discussed that option at all with your dealer ? Thanks |
