if anyone has a solution to the headrests on sport seats on the 2007 x5 only moving up and down, please post. if anyone knows if a comfort seat headrest may be substituted for a sport seat headrest, please post. if anyone has a similar experience, please share. thanks!

i've tried...i have pushed and pulled pretty hard. the owners manual says you can "set the angle of the head restraint" and to "swivel the head restraint"

then it mentions comfort seat headrests. if i try to swivel the headrests any harder, they will break

Are you considering a rear entertainment system? If so you kill two birds and get the InVision set up which supplies the headrest replacement which is moveable.

Not the ideal answer but from reading the manual as you said you dont have that option in terms of movement.

With the comfort option the manual seems to read that these are electrically controlled by the shoulder support button and all that moves is the seperate section at the bottom of the rest not the whole rest. So I would think if you fitted comfort rests it wouldnt solve the problem.

ps-ridiculous that had i chosen comfort seats i would have had to throw away $1200

My INViSiON Headrests will fit into the E70 Perfectly and will still allow movement of the acuator. Meaning...it will still go up and down. I have several BMW running promotions with xoutpost.com. Please feel free to give me a call.

Thanks,

so you're saying that....this doesnt solve my problem AND i get to spend more money on my x5? that's great. thank you for that suggestion, this is certainly value added to this post.

I think we are missing the point here. They are not actually head rests...i.e not for resting your head on. They are head restraints. Their sole purpose is to prevent whiplash injuries in an accident.

BMW engineers will have ensured that through a number of other safety technologies that the head restraint will be in the correct position to prevent injury during an accident (subject to them being set to the correct height for the individual in the first place).

Look for example of all the seat adjustments that Merecedes Pre-safe undertakes if the vehicle detects an imminent collision.

Hey Bro, adding an INViSiON system to your vehicle would certainly be "Value Added!" Let me know!

The FMVSS standard you are refering to is known as Standard 202-A / Whiplash Crash Safety Standard. The INViSiON dvd headrest system has meet or exceed this standard, otherwise I couldn't market to the New Car Dealer market.
