If you want the Nav/Bluetooth and Rear DVD: there is another version...

What I mean to say is the following....

If you are thinking about the Navi, Bluetooth and DVD you can do it aftermarket for much less.....

Just went to my local Auto toy shop and here is what I was told....

I can have a Brand New Pioneer Navi Unit W bluetooth that I can control through the iDrive screen for a factory look for only $1,300

If I want the rear camera, they want an extra $300

For the 2 rear DVD monitors built into the headrest another $700

Plus I need to purchase some unit for $600 that will plug into the idrive system and allow all of the other items///DVD, Navi etc...to be controlled....

Plus at no charge they will allow you watch the DVD on the main iDrive screen if you want....

Total = $2,900 vs.@ Invoie Tech pkg + rear DVD = $4,005 (not including Blutooth)

so you can save about a grand for amuch better set up...

You get 2 7" screens in the back...very clean set up.
You get the option to watch DVD in the Front iDrive Screen
You get the Pioneer Navi w/Bluetoth harddrive that plugs into the iDrive screen and is a much nicer Navi then the factory Unit (lots of feat. including real time traffic)
You get Rear Camera.

I think this is a really good deal...

I saw the whole system installed in an RR Sport and it looked very Nice....

if this is for the e70...i don't get it...how do you integrate the nav using bmw's own proprietary system?

personally, i'd go for the tech package, and add that aftermarket DVD if i really needed it

I dont know how they do it...he told me it can be done and that they have done it on other iDrive cars...

He showed me a sample on the RR Sport, he stated that they have smoesort of a system as well and I saw with my own eyes how the DVD and Navi worked through the factory front screen...

He stated that the iDrive system would work the same way.....

The bluetooth comes with the tech package. I have it and it works well.

I agree with xnsf. I'd rather BMW's system then something aftermarket that might mess with the computer. Too much going on in this car to have some aftermarket electronics screwing things up worse than the other potential issues the car can have on its own.

If you're set on doing it, I'd make sure you see it in an E70 before you buy it and become this guy's guinea pig.

I agree with you 100%....He said he has a an '05 530i (E60) that will have the same set up done next week and he will call me to stop by and take a look....so I once I see it with an iDrive system ill make up my mind...my car is still in status 112 so i can add to my order.....

By the way are any of you BMWCCA members...

I am getting $1k back after I pick up my SAV at the PCD.

chris24 05-24-2007 10:13 AM

you're saving $1000 because of the BMWCCA membership, on top of whatever other discounts you negotiated? I'm not a member, but might become one if you get that kind of savings, for my next vehicle......

Thats right !!!

You get $1k on X5/5er
You get $1.5k on 7er
You get $500 on 3er/X3/Z4

Plus you can get the same amounts on CPO cars US/ED/PCD Delivery
Lease or Buy.

You just need to be a member for at least 12 full months before your purchase....so if you are thinking about getting another BMW sighn up at www. BMWcca.org

Membership is only $40
and includes the Roundel Mag every month

Use my BMWCCA # when you join #A364158

Thanks....

I need to check my paperwork because my salesman mentioned the BMWCCA when I picked up the car. I don't remember if he was just mentioning that I could join or if I got a free membership or anything like that, but I'm definitely going to do it. Even the lifetime membership is less than the 1k you saved, good deal...

I'll use your # when I do it though..

Thats right !!!

Simple as that...you get the money as extra bonus....

Few people know about it...except us Die hard BMW fans.....

By the way this is not my only and first BMW....

we picked up the E90 last year via ED...

We did the whole factory tour...etc...in Munchen....

I thought about doing the SC pickup on this one, but after all the issues reported on this site about the X5, didn't want to get stuck somewhere halfway to NY... I've heard that and the Germany delivery are awesome though.

Wish I knew about this when I had a 3-series in '99 (unless it didn't exist then?). I worked for a German company at the time that had done away with their BMW discount program literally a month or two before I started with the company (not to mention I was an impatient college kid who wanted the car immediately after I graduated instead of waiting till I actually started the job......).

I typically lease, so the thousand bucks doesn't mean a whole lot in the payment, but who am I to waste money.....
