Hi, You need one pack (has 2 bulbs in pack) of H11 55 watt which are for the fog lights and one pack of H8 which are only 35 watt for the angel eyes. The inner two lights on the new X5 are really sort of dummy lights as the outside lights are xeon and act for both high & low beam.

These 2 inner lights hold the H8 35watt bulb which runs the angel lights, it also projects out a little light forward through its reflector but nothing that you could drive at night with. I think BMW just wanted to keep the apperance of dual head lights on each side.

Until I install my new bulbs tomorrow I would say my old X5 with 4 actual head lights, 2 being xeon plus the 2 fog lights has better lights. Its common sense, 4 full beam lights plus 2 fog lights against only 2 full beam lights a 2 fog lights on the new X5 can not be as good. I notice that on Friday night when we drove up the coast.

Thanks...Ordered me some of those !!! The fogs look easy to install ...is the headlight still tricky as far as heating up etc to separate ?

Thanks

No you will be OK, The H8 anglelights are ony 35 watt ( same a oem) anyway and when you switch to highbeam I believe the output further dropped by 60%, must be some legal requirement of overall light output.

I am going to investigate whether or not one would be able to put 65 watt H8's in. Someone on the forum in the USA will try it soon, except not alot of the X5's there seem to get xeons as an option.

I am waiting for my dealer to call me that my car is ready, I had a full wheel alignment done and apparently it gets complecated because of the Adaptive Drive & Active Steer.
