Maybe his dealer doesn't have any allocations until then. My dealer had 0 allocations as of last week and two orders. They said they could get more at any time though...

No diesels in the 2008 model year.
They will be a 2009 model year, probably will be available by Spring of 2008 as a 2009.
Alex Bidarian 2007 X5 3.0si - on order for October delivery |
So I stuck with the 2007 X5 for NOW. If BMW releases an exact production date for the 2008 within the next week or two then ill reconsider, depending on when the production date is. Are there any changes between the 08 and 07?! Maybe a better back-up camera?...Ive heard the quality sucks a night, and maybe even a more recognizable voice activation system?? Anyone know any details?

So any changes? Is the underpowered (compared the competition) 3.0si not going to be replaced by the 3.5L? If so, that's pathetic, the Toureg, Cayanne, ML350, RX350, Saab 97X etc ALL have more HP, C'mon BMW!

Possible new twin turbo engine for 2008 MY !
I keep hearing yes and no to this question: Will the 3.0si be changed to the 3.5si with the new N54 twin tubo 300 hp engine ??? Honestly, I think the answer is yes, but you will not hear anything until October or November to confirm this rumor.
The other changes I have heard is that the power tailgate option will now be available in 2008's, but it will part of the Comfort Access option. I am not sure if the price of the Comfort Access will stay at $1000 or it will go up due to this extra feature. I guess we will know when you are able to order the car in August or September. I am not really sure what other changes are in order, since the car is only 1 year old so far (not even that, it came out around Thanksgiving of last year). If you want a 2008, you better be prepared to wait until November to get it. The production starts in September for the 2008's, and most likely the cars will hit the dealers by November. I am keeping my 2007 order unless I hear for sure that the 300 hp engine is going in the 2008's, and the price of the car is not going up by more than a 1000 bucks on the MSRP. I'm with you on the cost going up - hopefully it's negligible. I don't think I'd do more than say... $3k more for the N54. But there have been some who've said it will debut in the X6 and we might not see it till '09 in the X5.

You could be right about the N54 coming in 2009 model year ?
:iagree: That is what would make sense. It should debut in the 2009 X6 simultaneously alongside with the 2009 X5. But then again, I am getting real pissed off watching Ford Edge commercials, with the Edge bragging about beating the X5 in 0-60 by 0.2 seconds. That is pretty embarrasing to beat by the Ford Freaking Edge ??? I am disappointed they only bumped up the hp to 260 in the 1st place when they introduced the 2007 X5. They could have just put in the N54 right off the bat, so they will not be embarrased by cheesy Ford commercials on national TV.
If they drop it in the X5 3.0si, then you would assume they would also drop it in the X3 3.0si as well. I have a hard time believing that they will change the X3 engine, after having it bumped up from 225 hp just a year earlier, but that goes for the X5 as well. I like to optomistic and think the 2008 will have more power. But from a marketing point of view, it would make more sense if they introduced it with the X6 in 2008 for a 2009 model year alongside the 2009 X5 3.5si. These are just my opinions. Your mileage may vary. Not legal in Alaska and Hawaii. Blah, blah, blah... Alex Bidarian 2007 X5 3.0si - on order |
