Now that is funny right there.

I think these internet forums are usually filled with a demographic that is overall more enthusiast than the public at large. More over, if the question was posed with an "if money was no object" the answers may have been even more skewed to the 4.8, as all of the more (for the lack of a better word) "practical" buyers would not be chiming in for the 3.0.

btw, I, being the owner of a powerhouse CDI diesel also agree that it would be a good middle choice, however it is not a choice in the US.

Everything is driven by economics. Where we live, the size of our house, where our kids go to school, where we shop, where we eat and of course the cars that we drive. I have a 3.0 because that's what I can afford. If money is not an object, I'd be driving something else.

i'd probably have a Cayenne Turbo or Range Rover Turbo in that world.. But I am thankful for what I have and when you consider 99.9% of the world couldn't afford to buy a 2001 X5 with 200,000 miles on it, much less a decent Ford compact, we all have a lot to be thankful for!

4.8i
I am coming from a 3.0i which although excellent to drive, was underpowered. Only tested a 4.8i and liked how it sounded and handled. On an open road, it has all the power you will ever need.

Cheers

Isnt the RR Supercharged about the same 0-60 as a 3.0si X5?

Range SC if faster by almost a full second then the 3.0 E70

BUT, I'm not sure how the Ford Edge has a commercial stating it's 0-60 time is quicker then the X5 3.0....lets see Ford Edge with AWD (yes, it needs that to match the X5)...
