Active Steering... I tried it, I liked it!

I just went ahead and added Active Steering to my X5 order.

What made me change my mind, was actually spending some time with an X5 that had it included. I really liked the way it resulted in my rarely having to "shuffle" the steering wheel or use hand-over-hand to turn it. Plus parking was a breeze! I personally didn't feel as if it detracted from the driving experience. Also understand that it can work w/DSC to help maintain control of the vehicle in snow/rain etc.

Anyone else feel the same way I do? How about you folks that don't like Active Steering? What don't you like about it?

Its awesome I have it on my 535d, cant live without it. Every non-AS car I drive feels like a ship. On the X5 its a must.

For the X5 it should be standard in my opinion. Great feature and this was one of the first options I included on our new one. I had it on my previous 6er and liked it while driving around in the city although I don't like it when you start playing with the car.

Don't have it on the M6 (not possible) and there certainly is a reason for it but on the X5 ... you need this.

When you start drifting the car its not very intuitive as it quickens the ratio to provide counter-steer. Its very easy to correct a slide but hard to hold it. I am pretty used to it now but can see why it wouldn't be great on a track.

to my mind, active steering makes the roadfeel fade away. but the idea is good
