Runflat punctured !

Well got in my car today starting driving and got the Low Pressure chime.. thought it must be a malfunction.. checked the rear tire and there is a medium sized screw in it !!.. 1700 kms on it !!!.... Have ordered a new one.. although annoyed... I am impressed with the tire pressure sensors !!!

what brand tire?

My Michelin was covered under warranty for a puncture, there is an additional warranty on the run-flats that covers road hazzard and punctures.

BTW- depending on where the puncture is, you might be able to plug it.

Not aware of any warranty in Australia for punctures.. it is a Continental.. also BMW will not permt it to be reapaired.. in fact BMW will not even allow changeover to non runflats as they say it will void your warranty !!!

I have the Bridgestone RFT, and it has no punctures yet, while the Pirelli's on my other car (non-rft) have had 2 punctures in the past two weeks.

search Continental website for your tires warranty. My dealer said it was not covered, I even showed him the warranty and he still said it was not covered...so I wiped out my cell phone, called Michelin and put the dealer on the phone. New tire was free!

Anyone know if Bridgestone RFT have the same warranty? Couldn't find any details on the Bridgestone site.

I had a similar experience with my Dunlop 20 " runflats at 2000 miles. Dealer at first told me that they could not be repaired. I told them that I heard that these were 4th generation runflats and that they WERE repairable. I asked them to check with Dunlop techincal support, they eventually confirmed that they were indeed repairable and fixed it FOC.

There is another thread here that talks about warranty.

The tires are covered for like two years if the are punctured. FREE replacement and mounting!!!! But not through BMW.

I did not know and used my alternate tire warranty.. Ouch!! Cost me about $300

tire pressure monitors are nice, but another example of BMW being late in the technology game... they have been available on other cars for years. and even today, the BMW version only tells you when the pressure is low... when most other systems SHOW you the pressure PSI level so you can fill it up and keep them even as you choose. i don't understand why bmw doesn't display the actual pressure.

True.... It would be nice to know how low the tire is... and do I need to change it or go top it off.
