Petrol Prices

With prices like those you should be putting premium in every time, occasionaly I put Premium (95) in my 4.6is but generally put in regular (91), but them we do pay approx £4.5(uk) about $10 a gallon, over here. It costs about £90 to fill it up and I get about 250-300 miles from a tank, it is fun motoring but it does come at a cost. Never mind with the current £/$ rate it does make having a holiday in the States very cheap!

Until you realize you have to drive everywhere  and the average commute is 20+ miles one way.

The cost for the 91 ( 1L=0.40 SAR) the E70 about 85L so It's going to cost 34 SAR which is $9.06
(85X0.40)=34 SAR
$1=3.75 SAR
(34/3.75)= $9.06

And the 95 (which I always use) cost 0.60 SAR per 1L
(85X0.60)= 51 SAR
$1=3.75 SAR
(51/3.75)= $13.6

I believe the statistics state that the performance of the vehicle is the only thing that using a lower grade will change.
so you may lose a horse or so.
I also think that they say that the MPG are not really effected.
the high line auto makers want to push as much hp and tq firugres and using premium fuel gives those figures.

we dont have any octane 80 in UAE .. we only have octane 95 and octane 98 which we use ..

I use preium but the last time the guy put in a tank of regular (no self serve in Oregon) I did not notice any difference. That said I plan to go back to what BMW specs.

won't going to a lower grade (87) cause knocking in the long run???

not sure...

anyone have "official" input on this???

Wagner 10-15-2007 06:49 PM

no, knock sensors are very advanced now, the car will retard timing. The only issue would be on a turbo motor where one premature detonation would blow the motor.
