Yes, it does. you can switch between stereo/surround.
of course, surround sound is much more dynamic. |
Hum...say if you have the DVD in the glovebox and a DVD in the rear entertainment unit and are watching a movie in the back...which audio source do you hear...?
|
Can anybody confirm if the front mounted DVD changer can play movies to the rear seat entertainment screen? If so, does the rear seat controls/remote control the DVD playback (play, RW, FF, Menus, etc)?
|
If it does also play DVDs on the rear entertainment screen then that will convince me to get the premium sound and rear entertainment packages.
As far as the full-screen mode........the LCD screen is not a standard widescreen with an approx. aspect ratio of 16:9. The aspect ratio of the entire screen is MUCH more than what is needed for widescreen DVD playback, so you wouldn't want to be able to play DVDs fullscreen on it. The left section of the screen where video is displayed is already more or less the correct aspect ratio for widescreen DVD playback |
This dvd-play feature is premium-sound package only, correct?
|
You need the DVD Changer (or Muliti-Media Changer) which only comes with the Premium Sound Package in the US.

Well, for those of you still ordering a changable car, make note. I have to stop into the dealership today to ask a question, so I'll ask someone in service if they know of any way to "accidentally" alter something so the video plays despite the car being in drive.
I know in another car of mine he said that there is a wire that connects that can be accidentally left unattached. I'll let you know what I find out. |

Confusing
Okay, so I understand that the DVD changer in the glove box plays movies when in park, but the changer can't also read music CDs?
Someone please explain the logic to me... BMW puts a single CD in the dash and a DVD changer in the glove box that plays movies when the car is in park. Now, I don't have the rear seat entertainment - perhaps the dvd changer is for that? Otherwise, this makes no sense to me. Granted I have the iPod, so who really needs a CD changer nowadays, but still... the logic of a dvd changer to use in park makes little sense. Thanks - |
