Creaks and squeaks from "trim on trim" can often be cured with the application of a little silicone spray periodically. Use the small pipe which fits into the areosol nozzle to prevent overspray and have a good clean rag ready to mop up any excess. Its worked for me for years and I always have a can handy in the garage.

I removed the side and top trim from the back hatch door, put on felt tape and thicker foam tape on all contact areas... it now makes no noise when moving the trim by hand which it did before ;-) , I didn't do the lowere trim piece where the interior lights are.. that's next ...however my creak is still there ... seems to be at low speeds and usually first thing in the morning or after car has been left standing for a while...I'll be resolving this by elimination by the looks of it.. I will climb in the back hatch and get someone to drive the car to see if I can pinpoint it......

I had the same creak in the trunk. I brought it back to the dealership atleast 5 times and its finally fixed. At one point it was so loud I thought it was the rear sub frame (I blew one out on a 3 series coupe). Luckily it wasn't anything that serious, just a very annoying loose sounding noise.

I have that too... thought it was the rear cargo floor, that rattles too. the sound is more a "clacking" sound than a squeezing one...

It's not the top or side plastic interior trim around the rear hatch .. I have taken those off and left them off .. noise is still there... looked at the trim on the lower half trunk door (not the upper door) and took that off (what a pain to do this btw)... Put it back on with some foam etc and noise is still there if not seemingly a little less... also drove with the rear hatch "popped" open and the noise is still there.. Drove with the rear luggage floor elevated and still there... I haven't removed the lower trim on the rear hatch that is next... maybe it is something outside the car... ?

hey guys,this is an old thread but i thought id reply anyway. the issue is the pastic piec on the tail gate that flips down to cover the space between the tailgate and the actual truck, when you put it down. when you put the tailgate down youll see what i mean, its about 7 inches wide and goes the length of the tailgate. the issue is along the bottom of that trim piece where ti connects to the truck. the isnt enough tolerance there and it contacts with the plastic there where the springs are. you can remove this piece completely, or better get that felt tape and place it along the entire back area about 1/4 inch along where the prings contact. youll probably see where there are "score" marks where the plastic has been marked and grooved wheres its contacting. A little tape there seemed to fix it. also agree on the front seats and the lame plastic squeeze sound there as well. ill try the silicone spray. otherwise im just going to try to figure out how to pull it off...

loteq, are you referring to the lower portion of the tailgate where it bridges the gap of the hinge when fully open?

Mine has a creak somewhere in the back ceiling area. It only happens when the weight of the vehicle shifts; during turns mostly. Have been looked at by the dealer and disappeared for a day, but then came back. I just have to look at it myself I think.

After three visits to the dealer they solved it by greasing the black "U" shaped receivers attached to the body on both sides of the cargo opening. The self closing struts seat themselves against them when in the closed position. Happy once again.

Ok! Good to know! Will try that. So these u shaped receivers are located at the end of the struts for the rear tail gate?
