So, what was your rationale? I'd love to hear everyone's theories!

4 Years or 50K miles

I usualy buy used (3-6 months, max year old) cars with low mileage (~ no more than 15k km) and try to sell when mileage is close to 50k or warranty ends. Seems that X6 will buy new and after half a year change again (first cars I think will have some bugs like in E70). I hope I will not loose much money because seems in Latvia and Europe X6 will be hot thing...;)

KaiFy, do you still are looking for your SONY CyberShot???

Usually 36 month lease. If I don't go for the X6 and I decide on the E70 I may do 24 months this time.

EDIT: I did a 24 month lease - she goes back Dec 09

My Xs get replaced roughly every 3 years, although I might hold on to Xena III a bit longer.

LOL...just came across this thread. Went to the dealer to get a trade in price. I cannot believe how much depreciation/loss in value this vehicle has incurred. Picked it up end of April, 2007, and as of today, 40K miles from highway driving. Leased for 4 yrs, with price at $78KCDN.

And the response was...$35K. I knew there was high mileage, but wow. When I traded in my e46 M3 for this, I had driven my M3 for 3 yrs, 40K miles (coincidence). From an original value of $76K CDN, I was given $54K CDN.

The kicker is that I had originally planned to release this when the term was up, since I am able to write off a large portion of the vehicle for work, but since the black book value has tanked so much, the lease company won't touch it, since it will be worth substantially less than the residual value once the the remaining 2.5yrs of the current lease run their course.

Oh well, we don't drive these things to make money, do we?

That's why I always lease - in this case 30 months.
