How long do you intend to keep your e70?

I've had a lot of fun trying to calculate the optimal time in which to trade or sell my new X5. At what inflection point of resale value vs. depreciation is a good mix for you folks? (I also know that I really don't want to keep any German car beyond its warranty, due to expen$ive repair costs)

So, what was your rationale? I'd love to hear everyone's theories!

i'm not big on changing cars every two or three years... keep extending the warrantee and maintenance coverage till you can't anymore!! then get rid of it...

by that time you've got more than your return on investment...

i purchaed my landcruiser new 10 years ago and loved every minute of it..

hope to do the same with the X!

i believe you can extend upto 8 years 120k miles!!!

but if there are issues with it.....then...that's another story!!

The X is my wifes daily ride, we seem to be on the 3-4 year plan.

Thinking 12-18 months, depending on the used market then.

Leasing it for 36mo.... The decision is made for me :)

Till it dies... my Isuzu is currently 13 years old and still going strong. I absolutely can't wait to buy an X though so I'll have 2 vehicles, for no good reason other than the obvious. :D

Probably close to 10 years, assuming there are no major problems. Husbands '01 325xi is still running great, and looks good...we may even keep it more than 10yrs. Unless there's something else that catches our eye.
