So you have to decide whether you are going to believe the dealer, who is in business to sell more cars and has never designed or built anything, or BMW, who designed and built the engine.

Most of us on here tend to respect the machinery during early hours, take it somewhat easy, and give the parts time to bed in. You are not going to blow up the engine by not following the break-in instructions, but you are also not as likely to get as much out of the vehicle. Break-in is about respecting the machinery.

EDIT: It was said much more precisely by another poster. Your dealer is an idiot.

> the dealer told me i clearly did not have to break it in. due to the built of the new engine.

So if you consider your dealer the ultimate authority, why did you bother to ask the question here?

you guys have to relax lol. obviously if i am asking the question here that means i dont trust the dealer 100%. and about the oil.. thats not a issue, breaks and oil changes are free. all i am worried about is the engine itself.

Do i have to break the car in? ( cuz i have not : ) its just to much fun )
what is the DS drive?
she is black, should i tint her?
is it ok to keep the car in sport mode at all times?
what is the average price on the factory aero kit? and is it worth it?
any heads up tips i should know about?

you guys are great! Thank you!!

No drive the car as you generally would, wait for it to warm up if you must get on it.

Sport drive, nothing really special about it since your car is inherently an auto-slush box :)

Tint it now, 30 or 25% all around

Doesn't matter if you keep it in sport mode or not, all that does is allow it to rev higher, nothing special as the computer will protect the transmission if/when you mess up.

Aero kit is probably between 3000-4000 depending on the dealer.

Its a 2nd year BMW, it will have bugs until about the 3/4th year.

Brakes and oil changes are free in normal intervals, not whenever you want them.

Please sit down. Grab a soft drink, read the manual and follow the directions contained therein. Some folks use a highlighter in yellow or another pleasing color to highlight points of interest like where different functions that operate different parts of the vehicle are located. In doing so many of your questions will be answered.

Please take a walk around your vehicle and look for additional clues, under the hood and inside the door jambs for name plates, and signs that will let you know what should be done if you have a flat, or you need a tow, or how much pressure should be in the tires. This is very valuable information and is included right on your vehicle. You may even find the paint color of your vehicle spelled out.

Please remember your vehicle was built by BMW not your dealer. You will find that in the long run following directions, instructions, and learning about your vehicle by reading the manual will benefit you with the needed education required to operate your vehicle and enjoy it.

Folks here at X5World are more than happy to answer your questions but first please consider reading the manual. Thank you for your cooperation. ;)
