Windows/Moonroof no close with remote

Hi folks, I've searched and have not found the answer.

When I hold down the "unlock" button on my remote, the windows and then the moonroof open. But when I hold the "lock" button down, they do not close. What's up with this? The small "quick manual" states that this should work. The normal manual does not mention it either way.

I also came across someone's posting that I did come across the "cool hidden features posting" that states that this is supposed to work. But I wonder if the poster just posted this from reading the "quick manual" vs. actually trying it.

Can anyone verify if this is/is not supposed to work? My X5 does not have the "comfort access" feature.

The windows and moonroof don't close when you hold down the unlock button, at least here in the US. It's the same reason why you can only close the rear auto tailgate by pressing the button on the actual liftgate and not inside the cabin - BMW trying to reduce their possibility for litigation.

I think you meant the "lock" button. But if this were true...that SUCKS!

Works perfect on my UK spec .. all close by holding centre button

I think you need to put the key into the lock and then they will all automatically close (turning in one direction - saw it in manual).

yea its weird -it doesnt work

Again - This feature only exists in limited markets. Clearly both the US and Canadian market don't have this feature.

This stinks...It's the same thng on my M3...
I believe(don't quote me) Euro models even come with a rain sensing version, and will close everything up, if it detects rain, and the wipers set to auto...Which I could appreiciate, living in southern Louisiana...
