can't remember, is bmw assist free for 1 year or 4 years? I may have it mixed up with free traffic info.

Bmw assist was not helpful and finally the police towed the car and we had to ride (pregnant and hot with my chronically ill daughter) in the front with the tow guy! He was very nice to drive us though (although I'm sure it was very unsafe), as bmw assist sent no one and said they were sorry the dealership was closed. I'm pretty sure we would have been there all night!

I'm joining AAA for sure! But I'm wondering if anyone has had this problem. So glad we are all ok. Could have been much worse. But still, I never expected to have the brakes go out on a brand new car.

Sad to hear about your experience- it is a shame. I hope you take the case to BMWNA, because the risk posed by such incidence is really grave.
Reminds me of my 9 months old 2008 X5 as well. She had to go in to get the front wheel bearing assembly replaced- certainly not what you will expect from a 9 months old car.

All of these makes you wonder about the quality of the workmanship.

Sorry to go OT, but we only get free traffic info for one year? Then how does one renew the traffic connected to the nav?

Amazing story and glad you were all ok...
Very curious to read the diagnosis as in my
46 years of driving/riding cars & m'cycles I
have never experienced acute hydraulic brake failure.

Hope you give someone an earful, after the fix.

BMW Assist is starting to become a bit useless; Meiac had 2 flats and called them on a weekend, only to get a rude operator and absolutely no help at all.

It's definitely worth a call to BMW NA for both the brake failure and the poor Assistance. Glad you are okay.

sue them!! and I think you deserve a really good treatment from BMW. they need to make up something for you.

Glad to hear you're okay. I would have been really pissed if that was my wife under the same situation.

That's why I continue to carry my AAA membership. Besides getting hotel discounts, they have excellent customer service and I never had any problems when I needed them for emergency road services.

sounds to me as if maybe you should look into a vehicle with Onstar, i hear they are much more reliable. i have always found them to be most accommodating.

were i to lock both my child and my keys in my car i certainly too would be pissed at the manufacturer for their lax and unthinkablely cavalier attitude toward my problem. afterall, BMW promised you infallibility i am assuming.

now that you have experienced complete brake failure, i would seriously suggest you trade into something more reliable. i can only imagine how horrifying the ride in the tow truck must have been. afterall, you paid good money and you certainly should be treated much better than you obviously have been treated. unless of course you are actually building a lawsuit of some form or another.

good luck with your family. i hear Honda makes a spectacular vehicle for hauling kids.
