E70 4.8 max speed

Tried it yesterday on a highway and could not reach more than 225km/h (140mph). Is it cause im using 18' all seasons?
The car spec says 240km/h (150mph) but even with slight decline on the highway could not reach it.
Do you know whats the deal?

245-250 km/h

The X5 4.8i with Sport package and 20" wheels will reach 155MPH. Check the BMW web site specs. There's also youtube videos of a guy getting to over 155, but that's due to the speedo reading higher than accurate at the top end.

Top speed for the 4.8 in the U.S. without the 20 inch wheels is 130, not sure about Croatia, but be careful at that speed. It is 150 MPH for the 20 inch wheels here.

I felt it was electronically limited to 220 kmh.
I will try again with the 20's in the summer.
Thanks.

What I meant was that you would have had to buy the car new with the sport package that comes with 20's standard. If you didn't get the sport package, your car is electronically limited at a lower speed of 130 mph. If you did opt for the sport package, then you should be able to hit 150. That is how it is in the U.S. anyway.

If you are running winter tires, you may want to be careful testing max speed. I am not sure what the speed rating is for the particular tire you are running on the 18's.

I just recently hit 150 in my 4.8 with sport package and 20" wheels. Almost felt like it could keep going if i had the room

I am pretty sure that the speed rating form my 18's is abt 220 kmh.
I drive quite often over 200 kmh (120 mph) and it feels safe on our highways.
Since I dont have the sport package (but I have the 20's), is there a way to remove the electronic speed limit. I was disappointed when a Cayenne S passed me.

I think the only way would be performance software and I am not sure what is available for your particular car. Also, if your winter tires are only speed rated to 220 kmh, then you really shouldn't exceed that speed. They simply were not designed for speeds faster than that.

when i saw this thread i took my x5 and went on the highway...top speed: 256km/h, and it`s was slowly growing towards 260km/h but the road was too bad quality....:(that`s how our roads in romania are. But believe me the car runs great. I will take some pictures with top speed and post it, but after a few months because now it`s suffering a visual and mechanical transformation:D
