Glad to see another X5 diesel in Seattle. Did you ever get the PDC issue fixed with the rack? I'm in the exact same boat.

May have to have Seattle BMW do the exhaust tips now they know how to!

I just read your thread... the lag to accelerate after slowing down and completing the turn while coasting... the X5 does this as well in auto... I thought it was the 3.0 engine but it feels like it doesn't even try to accelerate for a few seconds. I don't have acceleration lag from stop... I have it from a slow roll after slowing down. Sounds like the same issue despite different transmissions & engines. Any other owners 3.0 or 4.8 have this problem?

I'd also like to hear about an honest comparison for M3 vs. X5 handling (not speed/acceleration of course).

I knew your screen name looked familiar! Too bad you had such bad luck with the DCT. I got the MT and have been loving it. Good luck with your X5 35d!

Still working on it. I'm waiting for a little part to arrive which I am hoping will sort my problems out. As the other thread mentions, I can get the rear PDC to switch off now, its just that something is not right with the loads. I've got a feeling it has to do with the fact I'm only connecting to the brake light circuit and not the left/right indicators. Hang fire ... I hope to have a solution shortly. Oh yea, BMW Seattle can easily do the exhausts. Just speak with Elle in service, she'll sort you out.

Ya, should have got the manual. That M-DCT was the first car I've ever bought with a automatic transmission. What a fiasco.

The X5 transmission has a bit of lag, but its nothing like that DCT gearbox. The X5 transmission is typical of slush boxes using a torque converter. Its fine ... I wouldn't expect anything else.

As for handling .... seriously ... there's very little that can handle as good as the BMW E92 M3 and the previous E46 M3. The X5 is amazing given the the weight and size of it ... but you simply can't compare. You can take corners in the M3 at silly speeds. Silly ......

I really like the brush aluminum as well.

I went with the Tobacco interior. Wasnt sure how it would come out, but overall very pleased.

Looks great. First time I've seen tobacco with aluminum. My 08 M3 was space grey after having carbon black on my previous E46 M3. I have to say space grey looks best on the X5 and X6! Definitely. Any mods planned, and what did you spec on your car?

pedah3 04-15-2009 12:29 AM

Specs as follows:

Space Gray/Tobacco/Brushed Aluminum
Premium Pkg
Cold Weather Pkg
Premium Sunroof Pkg
Rear Climate
Sport Pkg
Comfort Seats
Comfort Access
HD Radio/Sat Radio
iPod/USB
Smartphone Integration (finally got the iphone cradle after 2 months!)
Tech Pkg
Trailer Hitch

From what I was told, my X5 was the first ordered and first delivered diesel in Seattle. Still amazed how most people still have such a misconception of diesels in this country.

No mods yet, but really liking the square tail pipes. I'm going to call Seattle tomorrow on that one. I was going to do the aluminum pedals, but they dont make a proper fitting dead pedal so with Tobacco interior, the dead pedal is also tobacco color. To me, the Al gas/brake looked ok, but unfinished without the matching dead pedal.

apw2607 04-15-2009 01:03 PM

Dont they make the dead pedal?

Part number 51 47 0 390 284

Aluminimum pedal set

Part number 35 00 0 304 643

pedah3 04-15-2009 01:21 PM

Seattle ordered a set for me - the dead pedal is just an overlay that screws on top of the existing plastic dead pedal. Its not the exact same size and looked really funny having part of the brown colored plastic visible around the new aluminum pedal. We went into the BMW system and there is really no dead pedal for the E70 style. The pics on the website are incorrect. They only make the gas and brake pedals for our specific model.
