Black carbon deposits on exhaust tips

Guys,

I am noticing that the exhaust tips on my car turn black every few days even after regular cleaning. My neighbor suggested me to take the car to the dealer to get it cleaned and carbon removed.

Has anyone noticed this before? I always use Shell V-Power and have never used any additives. Any suggestions how to clean and reduce carbon deposits in future? Will the dealer charge me for this (my car is under warranty)?

This is normal not much you can do except to polish them regularly with metal polish and elbow grease.

try having a white aero kit under them. ;) I have to wipe it off every few days, otherwise it stains it and I need to break out the clay. I leave the black stain on the tips and hope it evens out so it's not noticeably "dirty".

Thankfully I have black Aero kit, so the 'carbon finish' effect is not very visible.

Which polish do you use? Any considerations while selecting a brand, since the exhaust tips become very warm and I would want the polish to stay in all temperatures.

Try P21S Metal Finish Restorer. Works like magic...I use it on my tips once a month or so to get the black stains off.

Did you strip off the black paint off the inside?

Looks nice, but certainly I don't want to paint my tips.

On second thoughts, is my car running rich? Maybe its burning more gas or any problem with the catalytic converter? Not even a single day passes after I wash my car and the tips become black!

While few things are impossible, it is quite unlikely, as the O2 sensor would pick this up pretty quick and light the "Service Engine" light, with P0172 or P0175 OBD-II code.
