Thank you for taking the time to share. Re the Michelin LT's, did you elect to have them or did they just happen to come with the car? On my '08 I replaced the first set at 40k with another set of LTs's. The first set was definitely at the end but I was happy with the mileage and performance.. I'd rather not have the Duelers if I can select the Michelins.

I did not request the Latitudes but after reading on these and the Duelers it was my hope to get the LT's. Yes, they are RFT's, and seem to ride quite well.

You know I asked my PCD advisor about your cargo bay door prop - BMW hasn't yet assigned it a part number :dunno::D

Yeah, BMW NA begged Funf Dreisig AG to be an OEM supplier but we told them to take a hike. After studying the threads on this site, we're certain that with a little more practice, we can bilk more dough out of dummies than BMW NA can :yikes:

After all, BMW NA still offers X5s in colors other than BLACK. Even Henry Ford knew that just slows down the assembly line.

Great write-up and congrats. That's interesting how you definitely can tell a difference between the Sport and non-Sport on Adaptive Drive. I'm sure you know BMWNA dropped that from the '10 Sport Package but you can get it add as a stand alone option for a hefty $3K. Maybe you can swing back to PDC for another trip and drop that in the Suggestion Box ;).

 - re: brake dust...those roads are very twisty and the brakes and suspension got a workout. I noticed this and tried to tell my wife today that I need to wash the car to get better pictures...in the middle of a road trip...in the rain today in New England. You might guess her response...

Probably the same response mine had last week. We were on our way back to Omaha from camping in the Rockies over Labor Day. During the "1" fuel-up I had to do roundtrip, ridiculous by the way, I noticed a bunch of dead bugs all over the grill and hood. She woke up while I was in the wash bay with a high pressure hose getting them all off. She said, "you know we're still 400 miles from home right?" My reply, "That's fine, I'll wash it again when we get there.":D I got a really nice eye roll before she fell back asleep for the rest of the drive.

I got a wash in Salem, MA. We've traveled up through Gloucester and Boston, camping in Wiscasset and Bar Harbor Maine since my last post, then crossed over New Hampshire into Vermont and are tonight near Burlington Vermont. I have bug splats everywhere - it's starting to spoil the view. Tomorrow AFTER A WASH we're headed up to Montreal then across Canada to home near Minneapolis this weekend - the end to my first 2 week vacation EVER.

Love the new car - still averaging 24-27 MPG under all driving conditions with much more CRAP...er stuff...er souvenirs and gifts now. :D

FWIW, an interesting thing we noted when we were experimenting with ingress and egress on the E70's with running boards is that the problem seems much more pronounced in the front seats then the rear. I don't know the reason for it but thought it was interesting.
