The new X5 will grow by 10cm as compared to the current 4.67m long X5, the addtl space is mostly in the back as one of the options available will be a 3rd seating row in the back (simillar to Audi's or Volvo's).
Other features included a refined Xdrive, Xdrive display in the cockpit (via i-Drive), active steering, heads-up display and night vision.
As engines you will most likely see the current 6 and 8 cylinder models (including a 3 liter twin-turbo diesel), there won't be a v12 engine for the new X5 :( as the adaption for Xdrive is too difficult. The new high-end engine will be a V8 turbo with an output of ~400HP. Later on there'll likely be a hybrid offering too.
New X5s are expected to ship first in the US late 2006 and then Europe in early 2007.....
Looks are very simillar to the current X3/X5 , no major design experiements at this time. The X6 scheduled for 2008 will have more dramatic looks and design (a SUV / Coupe cross).
