Correct, you can see that form once the order is placed and u get the prod#.

And when you get the prod number, you then know that the dealer had an allocation and you should be "home free" as regards the eco credit.

are you sure that a production number = an allocation ? I've called the 1-800 number and used a production number after mine, and it indicated that the vehicle was built and awaiting shipment................. so if they're building 100 vehicles per shift, and they're running two shifts........it should be going a bit quicker than it has been....unless there is a shortage of diesel engines .........

Sorry, maybe I wasn't very clear. If you have a production number it means you have gotten an allocation, but it does not mean the vehicle has not gone further in the production process, or even been completed, i.e., having a production number simply means the order is at, or beyond, the allocation stage.

So if you have a production number, you can be sure that your dealer does have an allocation for the vehicle you ordered, but it doesn't mean that the vehicle is stuck in the "allocation step."

so does anyone know how / when dealer allocations are distributed by BMW USA?

In other words, how many 35d allocations does a typical dealer get and how often? Does it happen the same time every month or randomly?

My dealer says that you must also take delivery by 12/31 unless BMW extends the program.

I've never heard that, but if the program ends 11/2, it shouldn't be a problem taking delivery in 2 months.

That would make some sense, if they have a 60 day lead on their allocations, i.e., it would match with what I heard that the dealer had to have an allocation and not just an order (by 11/2 they would have all their allocations through December).
